The following local residents were among the 606 students who received degrees during the Commencement exercises at Grove City College on May 20, 2017. Delivering this year's Commencement address was Vice President of the United States, Mike Pence. The Class of 2017 was the largest class in Grove City College 140 year history. In recent years, the Grove City College's four-year graduation rate has climbed to 78 percent, while its six-year graduation rate has reached 83 percent. The average graduation rate in the U.S. is 59 percent.
Coastal Carolina University's held commencement ceremonies for an estimated 360 candidates for graduation Aug. 5, 2016, at the HTC Student Recreation and Convocation Center on campus. Speaker Robert Young congratulated the class for being the 'first CCU students ever to graduate from the number one university in the nation,' referencing the national College World Series baseball title CCU won on June 30. Young is professor of marine science and director of undergraduate research at CCU.

Approximately 1,100 students were graduation candidates for Coastal Carolina University's commencement ceremonies on May 6 and 7, 2016, at the HTC Center on campus. Grand Strand businessman and civic leader Dennis L. Wade was the speaker for the event, which consisted of four separate ceremonies.
Kent State continues strong university enrollment by welcoming a record-setting freshman class, in terms of size, diversity, and quality based on GPA. These academically motivated freshmen have an average GPA of 3.4 and an average ACT score of above 23.

Nineteen new members were recently revealed as new members of Omicron Delta Kappa Honor Society (ODK) at William Woods University. ODK was founded in 1914 and was established on the William Woods campus in 2009.
Twelve new members were selected for membership in Alpha Chi Honor Society at William Woods University this past academic year.
Whether it is academics, athletics or the arts, they are the best of the best. Among them are valedictorians, national merit scholars, musicians, UIL competitors, an Eagle Scout and even a children’s book author. They are the 2012 Tier One Scholars at the University of Houston (UH), and they are the largest, most distinguished class since the program’s inception in 2009. The Tier One Scholars program began as part of UH President Renu Khator’s initiative to attract outstanding, high-achieving students to the university. Since the first class of Tier One Scholars enrolled at UH in 2010, each new class has grown larger and more prestigious than the last. Of the 2012 Tier One Scholars, five are National Merit Scholars, six are valedictorians and 46 ranked in the top 5 percent of their high school graduating class.
